One Year + Three Rounds = A Rare Veterinary Internship Experience
This internship is a one-year, paid veterinary internship program that enables upcoming veterinary school graduates to gain valuable experience in our urgent care practices, as well as general practice and emergency medicine. This unique hybrid veterinary internship program is the first of its kind in our industry, offering personalized mentorship, a competitive $70,000 salary, and an opportunity for real-world training.
Why Apply for Our Internship?
Our goal is to help our interns succeed, both during the program and their veterinary jobs that follow. That means supporting them professionally, emotionally – and financially, too. Interns will enjoy:
- Mentorship! Train under board certified criticalist, Dr. Katie Sakakeeny and participate in mentor-supported routine surgeries and dental procedures
- $70,000 salary and full benefits package
- 100% medical coverage, tuition reimbursement (more than $400 per month), and 80 hours PTO - plus sick days
- Ability to manage your own caseload
- 5-day work weeks, no overnights, always paired with a veterinarian
- Opportunities to develop clinical problem-solving skills for wellness care, diagnosis, disease treatment, and professional communication
How it works
In partnership with our Rarebreed network of hospitals, this internship helps veterinary school graduates gain experience in each component of the Rarebreed ecosystem: urgent care, general practice, and emergency medicine. Interns will rotate between all three entities throughout the year, fine-tuning their skills in wellness care, diagnosis, surgery, disease treatment, and professional communication.
At PetMedic, they’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the in-between moments of veterinary care – and discover what it takes to succeed in an urgent care setting.
Take the next step
Urgent care for animals is a new and exciting area, and we want to share it with you.
